The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District's Sardis Lake is hosting its annual Habitat Day, February 11 2017.  Volunteers for this event should meet at the Holiday Lodge restaurant at Teekville Landing in Harmontown at 7:30 a.m. to register for work assignments.

Volunteers are asked to contact the Sardis Lake Field Office for information on tools and vehicles that will be needed to perform the work. Volunteers are encouraged to wear outdoor work clothing. ATV use is allowed, but ATV riders are reminded to wear helmets. Please contact Hayden Sullivan at Sardis Lake Field Office for more information. (662-563-4531)

The primary mission of Sardis Lake is flood damage risk reduction and is located near Sardis and Batesville, Mississippi. Over 1.4 million individuals visit the 98,371-acre recreational area annually to enjoy the camping, playgrounds, swimming areas, several types of trails, fishing, boat ramps and marinas.  The lake traffic brings approximately $34.5 million to the local economy and supports approximately 464 jobs. Information on Corps lakes and recreational areas can be found on the Vicksburg District Operations Division's website at
