Coldwater residents may get an opportunity to vote on beer sales in their town.
A bill currently before the Mississippi Senate would give smaller municipalities like Coldwater a chance to vote whether or not they want to legalize the sale of beer.
Under current law, a city needs a population of at least 2,500 before they can have a local option vote on beer. House Bill 1321, which was introduced last month, reduces the population requirement to 1,500 for cities within three miles of a “wet” city or county.
