Challenge Accepted Robotics 4-H team just returned from competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge South Super Regionals in Athens, Georgia, against some of the toughest teams in the country. Yep! The South produces some of the finest. From Texas to North Carolina to South Florida, 72 state winners came together in an exciting event that required teams to work hard, overcome unforeseeable challenges, and draw on inner reserves of strength to persevere and stay positive.
That’s what Challenge Accepted Robotics did at this event. While meeting dignitaries like the mayor of Athens, or the President of First, and simultaneously making repairs to their robot, the team kept their cool and their focus. A solid, reliable, robot performance kept the team high in team rankings and earned them an invitation to the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship in Houston, TX, April 19-22. Teams from all over the world will compete. All FIRST events are free to the public, so, if you’re in Houston that week, be sure to drop by the George R. Brown Convention Center.
The team is actively seeking sponsors and donations to help with the expenses of this trip and the substantial registration fee. Donations can be made to “Challenge Accepted Robotics,” a not for profit 501(c)(3), and dropped or mailed to Tate County Extension, PO Box 188, Senatobia, MS 38668.
